Andrew Whitney - Director

I have lots of experience in the transport industry, I started 6 years ago as a self employed taxi driver sub contracting on Cumbria County Council school routes. During this time I gained a huge amount of knowledge about what can make SEND transport routes sucessful and found the process very rewarding. When a new passenger/route starts you often find that they are extremely nervous and the way their journey to school goes sets up the rest of their day. To see someone gain confidence and independance and their day improve and be made easier as a result of sucessful transport to school is something I feel proud of.

I then made the decison to progress into bigger vehicles and passed my PSV test which meant I could drive bus and coaches for the operator that I covered County Council school routes for. Once I started driving buses I eventually learnt how to drive HGVs and once I passed that test I left passenger transport to drive HGVs full time. However, I quickly realised that this career was not for me at that particular time and that I missed the school transport side of my previous job. This is when Vicky and I decided that we wanted to go into business together and decided to start No Name Travel. The business took off extremely quickly and we really did hit the ground running, it grew from one vehicle doing one run to 13 vehicles and 20 members of staff in the first 5 months. We are both really proud of how much we have accomplished in such a short space of time.

In my free time I really enjoy spending time in my allotment with my family, we grow a lot of our own products and I find this to be the perfect way to destress after a busy day at work
